The why behind the what
For over 20 years we have worked as translators between investment managers, businesses seeking capital, and those with the capital. The pervasive theme is that investment markets and investors simply do not speak the same language. Investment bankers try to sell their deals to investors without taking the time to understand what investors actually want and need. So we believe that ultimately they will always underperform.
If you get the structure, sales model, go-to-market strategy, marketing messages, pricing strategy and/or reporting approach wrong, it won't matter how good your business could be. People think we're mad calling a financial services business ‘Revolver’. They want to know if we're planning on putting a gun to your head. But of course we aren’t. That wouldn't be great business, especially in the highly regulated financial services industry. And while we may have a bit of crazy at Revolver HQ (you need a bit of that to be an innovator), we're relentlessly commercial and far from stupid.
We are deliberately creating a picture which is very different from the usual, politically correct navy blue of financial services. Because we are different. We're pushing out into new frontiers and it's important that anyone looking to work with us understands that from the get-go.
In our minds Revolver evokes the gun slinging characters of the wild, wild west who opened up new frontiers with gutsy determination and without apology. And that’s how we feel.
